Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy explains how WorldRecipes.Exchange collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information when you browse, submit recipes, comment, vote, report content, or otherwise use the service.

2. Information we collect

• Content and choices you provide, including recipes, ingredients, instructions, country, food types, cooking time, comments, replies, reports, votes, and an optional author handle.
• A randomly generated visitor identifier stored in a cookie when needed to remember votes, prevent duplicate actions, and associate reports with the same browser.
• Anonymous website usage measurements collected through Vercel Web Analytics, such as page views, referring pages, approximate country, browser, operating system, and device type.
• Technical and request information that may be recorded by our hosting and database providers, such as IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, requested pages, and security logs.
• Messages you send to our privacy contact and the information required to respond.

3. How we use information

We use information to publish and organize recipes and comments; calculate scores and rankings; remember voting choices; prevent duplicate or abusive activity; investigate reports; moderate content; secure, maintain, and improve the service; respond to requests; understand community activity; develop commercial products and insights; and comply with legal obligations.

4. Monetization and commercial use

WorldRecipes.Exchange may earn revenue from advertising, sponsorships, affiliate relationships, paid features, public-content licensing, datasets, research, analytics, and commercial insights. Content intentionally submitted for public display may be used and licensed as described in our Terms of Use. We may also create and commercialize aggregated or de-identified information that is not reasonably intended to identify an individual.

We do not currently sell non-public personal information. If we introduce a materially different use or disclosure of identifiable personal information, we will provide notice and request consent where required by law.

5. Public information

Submitted recipes, comments, scores, timestamps, and author handles are intended to be publicly visible. They may be indexed by search engines, copied or shared by others, and used under the content licence in our Terms. Individual visitor identifiers and individual voting choices are not displayed publicly, although combined scores are public. Do not submit information you want to keep private.

6. Service providers and disclosure

Vercel hosts and delivers the website and provides anonymous Web Analytics, and Supabase provides the database and administrator authentication. These providers process information on our behalf under their own service terms and may keep operational and security logs. We may also disclose information when you direct us to, during a financing, sale, merger, or reorganization, when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect the service, its users, or others.

7. Cookies

The public service uses a random visitor cookie when you vote or report content so the same browser can remember and change a choice without repeatedly adding votes. Supabase authentication cookies are used for the private administrator area. Vercel Web Analytics measures anonymous website traffic without using analytics cookies. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies. If optional advertising or other tracking technologies are introduced, we will update this policy and provide consent choices where required.

8. Retention and security

Public submissions and associated community activity may be retained while the service operates or while reasonably needed for moderation, legal obligations, disputes, backups, safety, and the content licence in our Terms. A removed item may remain in backups or records for a limited period. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.

9. International processing

Vercel, Supabase, and their infrastructure providers may process information outside Ontario or Canada. Information may therefore be subject to the laws and lawful-access requirements of the places where it is processed.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to or correction of personal information, ask about its use and disclosure, withdraw consent, or request deletion. Because public contributions can be anonymous, we may need enough information to verify that a request relates to you. Some rights are subject to legal, safety, archival, and contractual exceptions. 11. Children

The service is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not submit content. Age and parental-consent requirements may be higher in some locations. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted personal information.

12. Policy changes

We may update this policy as the service develops. We will identify the new effective date and provide additional notice or request new consent for material changes where required by law. WorldRecipes.Exchange is based in Ontario, Canada. The privacy contact is privacy@worldrecipes.exchange.
